Green Party US Awards $2500 Seed Grant to Ellis for Governor Campaign
The Andy Ellis for Governor campaign has received a $2,500 grant from the Green Party of the United States. The Green Party is one of eight national party committees authorized to raise money in support of state candidates.
The Green Party's national Ballot Access Committee works in conjunction with state and local parties and Green candidates to expand ballot access opportunities for Greens through petitioning, lobbying, and legal initiatives. This grant was funded by the Ballot Access Committee to support state candidates whose campaigns can have a positive benefit for Green Party ballot access. The Green Party awarded the grant in recognition of the strength of the Ellis campaign's application and potential for success.
Under Maryland law, if the Ellis campaign achieves 1% of the total vote in the 2026 election the Maryland Green Party will extend its ballot access for an additional election cycle.
The campaign will use the grant to develop a strategic plan to identify specific opportunities to achieve this 1% goal. The campaign and the party will use this plan as a future resource for state and national ballot access planning efforts.
The Ellis campaign has announced a separate fundraising effort to match this $2,500 total by 2025 in support of other needs. The Andy Ellis for Governor campaign will hold a launch announcement and rally in Annapolis on January 4, 2025.
