Our Campaign Doesn’t Take Corporate Money. That’s the Point.
Politics doesn’t need an expensive price tag to work for you. It needs candidates who trust the voters. Rooting the Ellis-Andrews campaign in public financing proves we are building something different. Our base is your funding and action, because that’s who we are serving.
We don’t need money from corporations, lobbyists, or PACs, because we’re building something different, with the people of Maryland, for the people of Maryland.
Public financing breaks through the two-party log jam by giving independent and small party candidates the resources to wage a fair fight. It helps us hire the organizers and build the statewide field operations we need to grow, get the materials into the hands of our event staff as we canvas Maryland with our case, and reach the voters who have been ignored by both parties.
To qualify, our campaign must raise receive 1,500 in-state donations totaling $120,000. Individual contributions are capped at $250 and qualifying donations from eligible Maryland residents are matched with public funds on a tiered scale.
